The Wand Pendant

A beautiful wand pendant made from a piece of Alder, from one of a stand of trees in Somerset that I frequently walk past - in the winter they are kind enough to drop branches for me to find and make into wands!

I carved the end into a point, and pyrographed a pattern of spirals into the wood.

It has been treated with local beeswax polish and hung from a generous length of black waxed cotton cord along with a wooden bead. It's about 4.5 inches/11.5cm from end to end.

Alder

Alder likes to grow with it's feet wet and is often found along lakes and rivers and in boggy places! It's the UK's only broad-leafed deciduous tree that has cones - making it easy to identify in the winter when you can easily see the little cones still on it's branches. It's associated with shielding and protection - it's wood is rot resistant, and was also used to make shields from. It's associated with Bran, and thus seership, and it is considered to be a tree of fire since it's sap, when exposed to air turns orange-red.

Greenwoman Crafts

Greenwoman Crafts is a small Pagan craft business run by a practicing witch of many years' experience. I try to source our materials ethically and sustainably. Wood for most of the items comes from my land and that of my friends and family. I collect found wood - gifts from the trees and prunings for my work.

We make every attempt to reuse and recycle where-ever possible, and this includes our packaging materials (alas this is not always possible), we encourage our customers to continue to do so!

All items are new and unused, I prefer not to charge magical items, leaving that for their new owners to do. All items are crafted with joy and love.
