This is a primitive Southern Appalachian folk art pottery ugly face jug made by Grace Nell Hewell (1933-2016) of Gillsville, Georgia. It is a miniature piece measuring 3" tall. The eyes and teeth are traditionally made from broken pieces of porcelain. It is finished in an alkaline green glaze. The bottom is signed by the potter and dated 5-7-1997.
