First Edition thus, 1976. Part of Arno Press' hard-to-find "Supernatural & Occult Fiction" collection. By Abraham Merritt and Hannes Bok. Facsimile reprint of the original publication, originally released in 1946. Hardcover with purple boards and silver titling to front and spine. 115 pages, with wonderful Surrealist illustrations throughout. A collection of three fantasy short stories: The Fox Woman, by A. Merritt, was an unfinished fantasy tale finished posthumously as The Blue Pagoda, and illustrated with etchings by Hannes Bok. The Black Wheel is a fantasy novel concerning the discovery of a centuries-old shipwreck, complete with the preserved bodies of its crew, and the consequences for the passengers and crew of the cruise ship that comes across it.
