Description: 60 leaves of mounting stock, with 250+ mounted cards, scraps & cuttings. Greeting card themes vary between Christmas, New Years & Birthday, manufactured by divers firms: Raphael Tuck & Sons, Joseph Mansell, Thomas Stevens, Davidson Brothers, etc. One laid-in Christmas card with a penciled greeting, "Ruth / from Godmother Florence". [possibly FN's hand]. Two others from FN as well, with her inscriptions. 9-3/4" x 7-5/8" x 2-3/8". Presumed bespoke brown half-leather volume, with "Ruth" gilt stamped to the front board. AEG. Album with minor extremity wear. Verney's large art-nouveau bookplate to front paste-down. Cards generally VG to VG+ condition. Overall, internally & externally, a VG+ item.

Ruth Florence Verney was Florence Nightingale's god-daughter, the Verney family being closely connected to Nightingale by work, and by the marriage of her sister, Parthenope, to Sir Harry Verney.
