Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Duo Sonic in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and bridge cover. A rare variant featuring a mahogany body and distinctive transparent Cherry gloss nitro lacquer finish, this Duo Sonic has a natural midrange warmth and growl that sets it apart.

The guitar has a bold natural acoustic tone, qualities which translate well via the original pair of black bobbin alnico magnet single coil pickups. These pickups are essentially wound identically to a '63 Strat pickup, with the only difference being the flat pole piece design. Both pickups have healthy output, with a bouncy, sparkling sound and chewy twang, delivering a bold midrange character and rich bass register bark. Weighing 7lbs 1oz, this Duo Sonic has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 13-56 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The nitro lacquer Cherry finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray. This rare finish is the same used as the top coat on Candy Apple Red (without the gold metallic base), highlighting the grain of the mahogany body. There is tight vertical lacquer checking across the body, various finish chips on the body perimeter, largely on the treble-side lower bout edge, and just a few additional minor marks and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth nitro lacquer gloss, free of palm wear.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
