This Leofoto tripod and the geared center column was one of a number of tripods and accessories that were all procured brand new to set up a lab for some critical measurements. The project did not secure funding, so the lab is being dismantled and all the gear is being sold. This is the top of the line Leofoto short / ground tripod, the LM-402C (40mm top tube diameter, 2 leg segments). It is configured with a Leofoto GC-404C geared center column that has been professionally truncated for about 3.25 inches of movement. This makes it possible for a CC to be used on the ground level tripod, and it allows height adjstments.

The truncated geared center column can also be used on traditional, full-size tripods that can take a 100 mm video bowl, such as a Gitzo Systematic Series 5 tripod. Most of the time, height adjustments are minor, and the truncated GC makes it more compact and reduces the overall weight.

Comes with the original tripod bag and box. The configuration was set up and tested, but it has never been used. It might show minor scuffs from handling, but both tripod and the geared center column are as new, except the truncation of the GC. The upper leg segments are covered in a camouflage faux leather wrap ($20 value!)

When used with a high-quality ball head or geared head, we found this to be the best ground-level or table top tripod set up, capable of exceptional load handling, stability and absorption of vibrations.

Sadly, Leofoto has stopped making this tremendous tripod, so it is almost impossible to find one new now.

This tripod was bought in January 2021 from Leofoto USA, and has warranty until January 2031.
