This beautiful piece was purchased at the auction for the Powers Museum, in Carthage, Missouri. The Powers/Winchester family was wealthy and world travelers, and sadly their museum of 30 years closed last year due to Covid. The museum contained lovely personal items from the late 1800s through the 1950s.

I wish I knew more about it. It's been folded for a long time and kept in the museum. There was a small paper tag that says Made in West Africa, but the tag doesn't stay on and now I can't find it. I don't see any damage or stains and the edges are unhemmed.

The measurements are roughly 57" x 38 1/2", it is slightly irregular. For reference, my table measures 48" across. The material has a nice weight and a good hand- I believe it is cotton. The colors are darkest purple, teal green, orangey red, yellow, white and brown. The scene is reversed on the other side and the colors are a bit muddier. Photos 1-7 are of one side, the next 7 are the reverse.  It weighs 10 ounces.
