“Mountain Valley"

Oil painting on canvas, framed.

Swiss school.

Circa late 19th Century.

This exquisite antique oil on canvas painting depicts a small farmstead nestled at the foothills of a serene mountain gorge. Likely to be a Swiss landscape.

The work is unsigned, presented in an ornate gilt gesso wooden frame.

Condition:

In good antique condition, no loss of colour. As pictured, there is some tarnish with canvas showing through, especially in the upper areas.

The frame is in excellent antique condition with only minor scuffs and marks to the gesso, expected with age.

Please keep in mind this is an antique item, it may have age related marks and imperfections which we feel only adds to its charm. We have done our best to highlight any flaws regarding this painting but the best way to check the condition yourself is through carefully studying the pictures provided on this listing.

Including frame - 33.5cm x 41cm (13 x 16")

Postage:
Due to us needing to travel regularly to obtain new stock and the time it takes for us to carefully pack each painting, we use a system of dedicated 'shipment' days to pack and send orders. These days are typically Monday & Friday. We ask customers to please consider this when making a purchase as the estimated dispatch / arrival date will be affected by this. Feel free to contact us after 10 working days if your item has not arrived within the UK and we will do our best to investigate. We use Royal Mail tracked 48 hours for most small artworks and Parcelforce 48 hour for large items. With international deliveries, it depends on delivery destination but will always use a fully tracked and insured option. Alternatively, the item is available to collect by appointment from either Tavistock, Devon PL19 0QT or Wantage, OX12 8DL. The item must be collected within 1 week of purchase (unless prior arrangement has been agreed). Contact must be made, and payment method confirmed before being collected.

The shipping of artworks is notoriously difficult, as such all well-known couriers refuse to insure the transport of paintings. However, we feel offering a condition guarantee on delivery to our customers is vital so do this ourselves. Unfortunately, we can only offer this on the artwork itself and cannot extend this to the frame due to their fragile nature. Therefor we offer the frame as included free of charge on purchasing the painting itself. We do everything we can to protect your artwork in transit utilising very strong cardboard boxes, void filler and bubble wrap, but by purchasing this listing you acknowledge and agree to this condition. If you are not particularly interested in the frame it may be safer to send the painting without it. If this is of interest, please feel free to message us and we would be happy to remove the frame for you.

International Buyers:
International buyers are very welcome but are responsible for any customs, duties etc. imposed by the buyer’s country. As antiques are often a regulated item when imported internationally, we ask international buyers to check their own countries rules and regulations before buying. We cannot be held responsible for any fines, or loss of an item due to customs. If you cannot find a postage rate to your country feel free to get in contact as we are willing to send to most countries. We will not lie on any custom or postage forms so please do not ask.

Please note that the international postage prices listed are estimates and we reserve the right to request for more or cancel the order if the postage is significantly more expensive. We will always refund any extra funds if the final postage cost is less. Why not look at our other items as we are always happy to combine postage!

Payment:
We are happy to accept any of the following forms of payment: PayPal, BACS, eBay managed payments or cash on collection. Please contact us if you will be using a payment method other than eBay managed payments. Items cannot be sent until all funds have been cleared. Payment must be received within 3 working days of purchase (unless an alternative method is agreed by ourselves and the buyer) if not cash on collection. If payment is not received after 3 working days, we reserve the right to relist the item and open an unpaid item case.

Returns and Terms of Sale:
Customer satisfaction is our main priority. All our items are always sold with returns accepted and a 14-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the item please make contact within 2 weeks of purchase and send it back in its original condition to receive a refund (unfortunately in order to keep our prices fair we are unable to refund the return postage cost).

We make every effort to list and describe our items condition honestly and as accurately as possible. Due to the nature of antiques / vintage pieces, buyers should not expect a brand-new artwork. These pieces are old and will often have knocks, marks, repairs etc. which feel only add to its charm and authenticity. All these imperfections will be highlighted in either the description or photos above so please do study all the photos provided before purchasing as these show the item in much more detail than the description ever can.

We often exhibit our items at various antique fairs and events, therefor we sincerely apologise if we need to end an item or cancel a sale if the item has sold in person before we can end the listing (don't worry this hasn't happened yet and hopefully never will!).
