Aileen Wuornos was an American serial killer who murdered seven men between 1989 and 1990. She worked as a prostitute and claimed that she killed these men in self-defense after they attempted to sexually assault her. Wuornos's troubled past and experiences in her early life were considered factors in her criminal behavior.
