Large sterling silver plate by Gorham has a gadrooned edge with a pierced design on the interior border/rim. The plate itself is slightly recessed giving it a small measure of depth. In line with Gorham's fine craftsmanship, this is a sturdy plate feeling heavier than it should for a sterling plate. There is a small (under 1") scratch on the top of the plate that you can see with light shining on it but not otherwise. There are also a few marks from use but no major dents, dings or deep scratches.

Measurements are 9.5" across and .75" high. Hallmarks are "Gorham" "Sterling" and "254" along with Gorham's standard lion passant, anchor and G. The hallmarks seem to indicate pre-1940 but specific dates were elusive. Total weight is 238g
