Silver Plate Hinged Box - Dutch Scenes - Barbour Silver Plate Company - Hartford 

This lovely hinged and footed dresser box was made by Barbour Silver Company in Hartford, 
Connecticut between 1921-1931. At that time, Barbour made an extensive line of 'Dutch' repousse pieces. 
Each side of this box depicts a different scene from Dutch life in the old days. 
The images were made by hammering the metal from the reverse side.

The piece is marked on the bottom with the Barbour Silver Company trademark stamp
The box is made of silver-plate over copper. The silver is in very good condition 
Inside is the original wood liner which lifts out. 
13.5cm x 9cm x 6cm and weighs 441grams
It even has dove-tailed joints! 
Overall, the box is in great shape and displays beautifully.
