In the 1970's, Raikes was asked to produce dolls. As a result, the first version of the Raikes Bears, which had a carved wooden face and cloth bodies filled with sawdust, hit the market. From that point on, the Raikes Bears grew in popularity. Each one is truly a work of art and each one is completely unique.
This shows a very fashionable Raikes Bear - "Daisy". Daisy wears a pleated Gray skirt with the Raikes Bears embroidered name Raikes Bear on the side. She has a Pink and Gray checkered sweater and a neck tie. This Gray bear also has a cap of Pink and Gray. This jointed bear has a wooden face and the bottom of her feet are wooden as well. The original tag is attached, which indicates that this Limited Edition (of 15,000) is individually signed and numbered (#5468). My favorite part? Her hat covers her little Bear ears! Her foot is engraved on the bottom #5,409 of 15,000 and is signed by Robert Raikes.
