This antique French Choisy-le-Roi Faience plate features a stunning black transferware printed design depicting the mythological couple Daphnis and Chloé. Made circa 1825, this original piece showcases the intricate craftsmanship of the French style and has been well-preserved over time. Measuring 8-5/8" inches, this creamware plate is a rare find for collectors of antique French ceramics.  It is in beautiful estate condition with NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs and NO restorations.  It shows only age appropriate signs of light wear with surface utensil marks in the well area, visible only when angled towards a bright light source.  The backside shows the impressed CHOISY maker's mark.

The depicted scene translates to:

"Daphnis and Chloé deliver Dorcon from their dogs.  By patent of invention undercover printing."
