Absolutely beautiful carved shell CAMEO featuring a "Flapper Girl" reminiscent of the Roaring 20's.  She is gorgeous!  The detail is marvelous, from her bobbed hair and headpiece to the flowing boa around her neck.   "Flappers" were a subculture of young western women in the 1920's, who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted acceptable behavior of the day. When held to the light, one can see her silhouette.  The sterling silver filigree work is detailed. The piece is in very good vintage condition, with wear appropriate to its age and use.

The piece, which measures 2 1/8" by 1 3/4" and weighs 14g, can be worn as a brooch which has a safety c clasp, or as a necklace by attaching the chain of your choice to the collapsible loop at the top.  It bears the hallmark SMICO, which stands for Smith & Bonds, a Canadian based company that was in business from 1938-1983.  It is also marked STERLING and the roman numerals XVI.  Don't miss the opportunity to acquire this exquisite cameo.  I have never seen one more appealing.
