Stunning pair in solid sterling by William Henry Leather; subsequently W H Leather & Son
of Pitsford Street, Birmingham - 1895 - 1920
Quality makers of Badge, book mark, cigar case, dish,
dressing table set, fork, salt, spoon, teapot etc
Excellent small pair of solid silver dishes,
fully hallmarked in Birmingham and Chester in 1902
both made at the same place and time but it’s quite normal for
some of the maker’s goods to be assayed in Birmingham and Chester.
When the makers were very busy they would go the nearest
assay office and if there was a lot of silver to be hallmarked
they would often send their goods to wherever it would be done quickly ).
Excellent quality with a super repousse and pierced pattern,
they are in very good condition with just a couple of very shallow marks.
The size is 75mm x 44mm x 5mm, and they weigh 14.50gms (2)
Birmingham Assay Anchor and date letter C for 1902
