ÜBER EDELHOLZ FREIBERG: Margarethe Edel war die Inhaberin von “Edelholz Freiberg”, daher wohl auch der Name “Edelholz”. Freiberg liegt in Sachsen und gehört zum Erzgebirge. Diese Märchen-Holzbild-Manufaktur wurde 1942 ins Handelsregister eingetragen, mitten im 2. Weltkrieg. Später bekamen ihre Produkte einen neuen Stempel: “VEB Kunstgewerbe Werkstätten Olbernhau”. Die Enteignung in der kommunistischen DDR fand um 1960 statt. Weiß jemand, ob Frau Edel selbst die Künstlerin war?
🇬🇧 ABOUT EDELHOLZ FREIBERG: Margarete Edel was the owner of Edelholz Freiberg. This manufactory produced fairy tale wood pictures / plaques starting 1942, during the Second World War. They were located in Freiberg (Ore Mountains, Saxony). In later years the products got a new stamp: “VEB Kunstgewerbe Werkstätten Olbernhau”. That started around 1960, during the then communist GDR government. Many privately owned manufacturers were forced to change into a state owned enterprise back then. Does anyone know if Margarethe Edel was the artist, too? (8/3)
