Beeton's Christmas Annual, sixteenth season, Faust and 'Phisto. AnonPub. Ward, Lock and Tyler (1875). Quarto. Bound into brown cloth, few marks, the original wrappers bound in.  Illustrated with pen and ink sketches. A satire on London life and the Prince of Wales, part of a series published by Beeton in the 1870's. A rare title, showing the Victorian literary fashion for whimsical verse. Although authorship is unclear, it has been suggested that it was E C Grenville Murray [1824-1881] a controversial and scurrilous character who began as a diplomat and ended up as a journalist.
