Prairie Cinders: Railway Recollections by Lawrence A. Stuckey
Nickel Belt Rails Book No. 6
Born in Brandon, Manitoba, the author worked on the railroads for many years during the steam era and early diesel period on the Canadian prairies, in North Dakota and then out to the Atlantic Coast and Great Britain. He saw service on work trains, main line freights, passenger "limiteds," freight trains and even snow plow extras. There are tales of the Canadian National, the Canadian Pacific, and even a brief look at the Grand Trunk. Here is a collection of compelling reminiscences of a long gone world which he remembers and interprets lovingly. The author was also a professional photographer and the book is illustrated with crisp black and white photos.
Has a letter from publisher stapled inside cover.
