Harry Darbee flies

Bought at Auction August 2023, from Bob Mead, with the following description:

Tied by Harry Darbee from my late best buddy, Dave Brandt's Estate. Dave was good friends with Harry and more than a few times had a drink with him out back discussing the flock Harry was raising for their hackle. At least that was what Dave told me as we rode to a FF show were tying at. So many memories since his passing 3 years ago. Hopefully he has traded his rod and waders for wings and a harp, and not horns and a forked spear. Dave probably got a chuckle out of what I just wrote where ever he is. He left these to his daughter Debbie and they are on here for here. Naturally Dave left her a lot more than this. She has fly fished and tied flies and I have asked her to think about getting back into it and taking her dad's place at a couple of the shows.

Ralph Graves Fly

These flies come from the personal collection of Captain Ken Tutalo. In 2000 Capt. Ken Tutalo took ownership of the Baxter House and opened as a Fishing Lodge, Fly Shop, and Fly Fishing Outfitter / Guide service that catered to visiting Fly Fishermen. He possessed a very large collection of Ralph Graves flies. Ralph was a close personal friend, and he was constantly giving Tutalo flies over a several decade period. His collection includes Dry Flies, Wet Flies, Streamer Flies , Salmon Flies and some of Graves' original creations. The reality is that Tutalo had these flies sitting in boxes for years. They belong in frames or displayed in some other fashion.  All of the flies were given to Tutalo directly by Ralph. For a lot of years Ralph spent his afternoons in Tutalo's fly shop. He would always tie a fly or two and he always left them for Tutalo. Many of these flies are from that period. In addition, some are Ralphie's fishing flies which were never packaged but sold or given to friends for their Fly Boxes rather than Shadow Boxes. Upon Ralph's passing, Tutalo was given Graves' personal fly boxes.

Shenk's Letort Cricket Fly Tied by Ed Shenk with Business Card

This fly was tied by Ed Shenk and is from his estate. Bill Skilton personally met with ed and picked and packed this fly and his tackle. You will also receive a copy of the letter stating that Bill Skilton will be selling Ed's estate and one of Ed's business card.

This fly is from the late Ed Dhenk's estate. Ed was author of FLY ROD TROUTING and inventor of several very effective fly patterns: Shenk Letort Hopper, Letort Cricket, Cress Bug, White Minnow, and Sculpin.

Vintage George Harvey's Light Hendrickson

George Harvey's beautiful size 12 Light Hendrickson dry fly, tied by George Harvey in the late 1970s. I will make a photo copy of front and back of his signed business card and include copies with your order.

This fly was purchased from George Harvey in the late 1970s by the late owner of the Yellow Breeches Fly Shop in Boiling Springs, Pa. At that time, this fly and many more were purchased from George for the purpose of resale. Bill Skilton managed the flyy shop at the time and has since purchased the remaining flies from the owners'estate. George was a legend and started the penn state fly fishing program over seventy five years ago. He also authored several books and many articles on fly tying and fishing.
