Medieval Siege Engines Part 2

Medieval Siege Engines Part 2 Bore, Crane & Mantlets

In medieval Latin Europe, siege warfare was one of the elementary elements of military affairs (especially in the full and late Middle Ages), and the art of besieging castles or strongholds was of great importance. Given the above, it is not surprising that many different types of siege engines appeared in medieval Europe. Of course, one of the most opponents was Taran, who was supposed to crush the wall or - much more often - break down the gates of the besieged fortress. Various catapults were also used, including machines such as: mangonel, onager or requires. The latter appeared among the sea in the 12th century and relatively quickly penetrated into other European countries. It used counterweights to balance the weight of the throwing world. a counterweight is required). It was also one of the most effective siege engines of the Middle Ages. Speaking of throwing weapons, we should mention the magnificent crossbows that appeared in the full Middle Ages. Of course, siege towers were also used on a large scale.
