Tapio Wirkkala Early Set of Two Clear Ovalis Vessels 1960s for Iittala Finland.

Pair of clear glass Ovalis Vases designed by Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) for Iittala, Finland in 1958. These hand blown elliptical shaped vases demonstrate the beautiful optical qualities of such a process. This pair is from the earlier 1958-1966 period since they are hand-engraved Tappio Wirkala 3036 on the bottoms. This design was re-released in limited quantities in 1977 and 2015, Wirkkala's 100th anniversary. These later releases have a sand-blasted stencil backstamp.
