Kerala Kasavu Double Mundu Handloom with Stripe Border

Mundu, a traditional attire worn by men around the waist in Kerala, is white or cream color and generally woven in cotton. Today, two types of mundu are widely used — single and double. While a single mundu is draped once around the waist, the double is folded in half before draping. A Traditional Kerala Kasavu Double Mundu normally has kara, a comparatively thicker cloth woven into it near the border. For ceremonial occasions such as weddings, a mundu with a golden embroidery known as kasavu is often used.
