Product Description

Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is invisible to our eyes, ultraviolet light. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. The UV Protector shields the lens from dust, moisture, scratches, and breakage. A UV filter is a glass filter that attaches to the front of your camera lens and blocks ultraviolet rays which can cause outdoor photos to appear hazy and indistinct and reduce the bluish cast of daylight

P.S.- Important to distinguish between the picture imperfections caused by UV or air-borne particles like smog. Smog imperfections are not removed by the UV filter.
