Karen Podevyn was diagnosed with M.E. in 2018 following a chest infection. She went from being a busy working mum with an active social life, to needing help to do simple things such as eating, getting out of bed or even going to the bathroom. Coupled with her own physical pain and fatigue, she had to cope with the emotional aspects of the illness, including dealing with the fact that her children thought she must be dying.
Karen begins this book by sharing the story of her illness, before going on to discuss how she recovered. She provides details of the actions she took in order to get herself better... even though medical professionals had told her that she would probably not get better, and could, in fact, expect to get worse.
