Palais Royal grand piano necessaire with music box and circa 1830. In the style of a Grand Piano or harpsichord the mahogany veneered case with locking lid mirrored to the underside. The interior with original silk cover and lift out necessaire tray. Under the tray more space to stow sewing kit and the music box with original glazed cover.
The musical mechanism is wound from the underside and there are two knobs, one to turn it on/off and the other to change the tune (this must only be done between tunes when the mechanism has been stopped). The fine sectional comb mechanism in the style of M.Bordier with the teeth clustered in fours and one five, a total of 69 notes. As you will hear from the video above the tunes are crammed with complex musical arrangements ornamenting the pretty melodies.
Weighs 1.16kg before wrapping. The case measures 11.75" (29.5cm) wide, stands 5.75" (14.5cm) high and is 7.5" (19cm) deep.
