So far I love the heat settings, the size of the mat, and the limited but functional flexibility. (So do my cats, who nightly try to hog the whole thing and nudge me off little by little!) I wish the user guide were more understandable, though. The noble attempt at translation is unintentionally adorably hilarious and at times contradictory or outright unintelligible. You cannot fault the valiant effort that went into the translation, but perhaps someone with a better track record of translating could be hired to do a complete re-do. And I say this with complete respect because as an experienced editor of works written by nonnative English speakers I can tell they put a lot of effort into it. And as typical of an editor, I am getting hung up on the user guide and not the product....

There is a button on the controller for which the user guide's instructions just do not make any sense to me, the "wave" button and the "confirm" light next to it. I have submitted a question above about that button so perhaps I'll get an answer and revise this comment.

So. Assuming this mat really is what they say it is, because I don't know how to tell from the guide that it is a far-infrared mat and not just a regular heating pad (perhaps some more technical specs would help?) other than the fact that Amazon is selling it as such, I am looking forward to many warm hours of soothing and hopefully some healing of my damaged back and legs from neuropathy and bone mets and two huge surgeries in nine months. I have been using the smallish Thermotex for a few years but with only two heat settings and the limited size (see above note re: cats) I had been longing for an affordable larger infrared mat. At times I am too sore to lay on it for long, even with a fluffy topper, because rocks are rocks, but I enjoy the heat it gives off when I lay next to it under the covers or when it is under my legs and feet, which often are the most painful areas anyway. During the day it is comfortable to sit on it while it is propped up on a recliner or the couch and covered with a comforter or fluffy blanket. The pain from sitting down is my most lingering nemesis, so I really appreciate being able to enjoy the soothing warmth to prolong my ability to sit, if it is a sitting day, which some days are just not.

I am still working on finding the right heat setting for all-night comfort, but it looks like heating the bed up on full heat and then turning it all the way down after getting in and moving it farther away or under my legs or feet is going to work for all of us who use it at night, human and feline. I would just feel a bit more comfortable if I were able to really read and understand all the technical and safety specs in the user guide.
