This is a brand-new Japanese lacquerware box made by a topnotch Makie artist.
It is beautifully decorated with "KICHO", cherry blossoms, and spring haze. KICHO is a traditional Japanese furniture used at the house of aristocratic families during Heian period (794 ~ 1192).
It is an outstanding artifact as itself, also would be wonderful to be used as a jewelry box (photo #4), or you can use it in any ways with your creative idea.
The artist is SHIBANO Seihoh (芝野正峰) in Kaga, which is known as a mecca of Japanese lacquerware. And he has been known as one of the best Makie artists in Kaga in last several decades.
The motif is KICHO, cherry blossom and spring haze. Yes, if you are familiar with Japanese classic literature, this is a scene of "The tale of Genji" which is the oldest novel in the world.
A KICHO, cherry blossoms and spring haze are very well expressed with Makie technique (photo #7 - 8).
The wooden box is original signed by the artist.
