JOHN WHITFIELD TAYLOR 1908-1985

FINE ORIGINAL PEN, INK & WASH CARTOON FOR PUNCH

~ A RARE HOOKED DRIVE LEADS TO AN UNFORTUNATE DISCOVERY... ~

Measures around 19 cm x 25 (visible image) 32 cm x 37 cm (frame).

Signed lower right and captioned to the mount: "Geoffrey! What on earth happened to your usual slice?"

A typically well-drawn, typically funny example of the cartoonist's work, probably produced for Punch in the early 1960s.

Taylor is arguably one of the unsung heroes of 20th Century British comic art and his work certainly deserves reappraisal.
