This Marzi & Remy black-handled stein depicts a well-dressed couple as they raise a toast.  German phrases are displayed between the two figures.  The unmarked stein is circa 1900 and is made in Germany (early Marzi & Remy works are seldom marked).  The clay and pewter stein is 9 1/2 inches tall and has a 4 1/2 inch base.

The beautifully turned pewter lid opens and closes easily and has no dents or dings. There is some discoloration and paint wear on the stein's bottom bands, as is expected for its 100+ year age.  Remarkably, no cracks or chips are noted. Please review pictures, especially photo of inside lid for past repair work.  Item is from the estate of a long-time stein collector.  Stein would be a great addition to your collection, or gift for a stein collector!
