Hard to determine fair value when I cannot find another copy of this wonderful 2 volume box set inscribed by the author Ralph Newman. It is THE CIVIL WAR 1861-1865 in a 2 volume box set. Volume 1: The American Iliad and Volume 2: The Picture Chronicle. Published in New York by Grosset & Dunlop 1956. There is a degree of wear and fading on just the outer spines exposed in the box. All other covers, corners, edges, endspapers, and interior pages are brilliantly clean and the box itself is also very very clean with just a light touch of corner wear. Of Course, most important, Volume 1 is inscribed for Arthur A Macy fellow "Veteran Of The Civil War" With Respect and Good Wishes Ralph Newman. I have to assume this is very likely a relative of the Civil War poet and veteran Arthur Macy (1842-1904). He was recorded as having 2 children but there is little knowledge of them. It would be very exciting it it was.
