33 LP –DUKE ELLINGTON (Plays & Speaks)/TOMMY DORSEY– AUG 25, 1946 Tenderleaf Tea Show– NM Vinyl

Great record for the jazz aficionado, a vinyl 33 LP recreates the event of a live recording made for the Tenderleaf Tea Party Show, August 1946, at a resort with Duke Ellington as guest player on several tracks. The vinyl is a limited original repress from several original 1940s era recordings, transcriptions, or early tapes. This JRC edition 12”  Vinyl LP Album is NM and plays as expected and even better with earphones for the slick spoken patter on it between Ellington's remarks, commentator and audience. Shipped in cardboard with a crystal archival sleeve and vinyl separated from cover.

The cover pictorial sleeve lists all the full credits on the back. Duke Ellington kicks off A–Train and several performances included with a lengthy monologue and biography with his own comments about jazz music theory, his musical roots, some jokes and piano work–plus a highlight drops club names he played in NY and LA over the decades. His performances is a slice of time with this master of jazz performance and original player. Pressed by JRC in Florida, the company series – One Night Stand – became a moniker in a series of reissues and living up to the name, they were found pirating these rarities back into circulation during the 1970s. This limited disk is a heavy well-pressed "nice chunk of vinyl" virtually like new looking anthology and example of post-war smooth ensemble jazz LP recordings by Dorsey, probably played once or twice. The opening MC patter & jokes begin with 1946 arrangements of Ellington Medleys by Tommy Dorsey, w/Charlie Shavers, Buddy Rich, then several by Ellington. Side 2 features other instrumentalists. The album showcases big band Swing & Jazz Orchestras conducted by Tommy Dorsey during a noticeable peak in the "Swing" era popularity. This special edition pictorial cardboard sleeve has an original LP orange-red label, Side One features Ellington's monologue plus several great music tracks. The vinyl itself has clean high-fidelity sound making it a collectible LP of value for any serious collection.
