Born in Madrid in 1926, Manuel Contreras joined the Ramirez workshop as a master luthier in 1959. It was Contreras who made the first José Ramirez guitar Andrés Segovia bought in 1960. After three years with Ramirez, Manuel opened his own guitar workshop in the center of Madrid. He soon earned a reputation as one of the finest and most innovative luthiers in Spain. This is an exceptional 1990 M.G. Contreras 8-B Classical in fabulous original shape. It was sold to its last caretaker by us in 1995 & now available for the 1st time since. Its tight grain Cedar Top is beautifully aged to a pretty caramel color. It’s Brazilian Rosewood back & sides are super colorful & quite figured all over. Its fat mahogany neck has a lovely ebony fingerboard with a light touch. She’s sporting a set of Gold Fustero tuners. Its label states it was made in Madrid by the original family. It’s an incredible example that has wonderful tonal quality & any good player will absolutely luv this model 8-B w/its 34 years of aging. It’s crack free & in truly near mint shape for the picky collector & comes in its original hard case.
