Very nice mid production MGA 1500 Mark I Coupe in excellent mechanical and very good cosmetic condition. The car is powered by the original 1.5-liter inline-four making 72 horsepower and a 4-speed manual transmission. Only 05570 indicated miles on the odometer (actual mileage unknown). The car retains many unique original features, including steel road wheels and exterior door handles (only offered on the coupe).

The car has been well maintained and serviced over the years. The car is coming out of Georgia ownership and has a Georgia title. A full inspection and service has been completed, and the car can be enjoyed as-is for many years. The car passed basic Technical/Maintenance Inspections recently.

History of the 1956-1962 MG MGA:
Introduced for the 1956 model year, the MGA roadster replaced the aging T-Series cars. Powered by a 68 horsepower 1,489cc overhead valve engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission, it featured independent front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and a solid rear axle with leaf springs. Braking was by hydraulic drums at all corners.

Sales in the first full year (1956) were 13,394 and rose to 16,467 for 1957, horsepower was up to 72 horsepower, and a coupe was added. In 1959, the MGA 1600 was introduced with a larger 79.5 horsepower engine and front disc brakes. The final iteration of the MGA was the 1600 Mk II, with a 90 horsepower 1,622cc engine and minor styling changes. The higher-performance MGA Twin Cam was produced from 1958 to 1960 with a 108-horsepower twin-cam engine and four-wheel disc brakes. The rarest of all MGAs is the “Deluxe,” which pairs the Twin Cam chassis and a 1600 or Mk II engine.

The BMIHT certificate indicates this car leaving the factory in Orient Red and wire wheels.. In certain spots, red can be seen. However, the wire to disk wheels is a bit of a mystery. This was the last of 10 Coupes with wire wheels, the 11th on had disks, so maybe an error in paperwork? The grill is also an oftermarket grill.
