FRODO LIVES!

Lord of the Rings Repro 60’s Counterculture Slogan

A new 1.25” button with the slogan Frodo Lives in a calligraphy font.

"Frodo Lives!" was a popular counterculture slogan in the 1960s and 1970s, referring to the character Frodo Baggins from the fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings, commonly associated with the hippie movement. Some say it related to Frodo’s departure for the Gray Havens at the end of the novel; other contend that it is the realization that the conclusion of Frodo’s mission has not ended in his death.

The phrase was used frequently in graffiti, buttons, bumper-stickers, T-shirts, and other materials. It was the title of a 1967 single released under the band name "The Magic Ring" by Smash Records. The phrase was also displayed during the activation of a 1990’s computer virus.
