Wood Manufacturing got its start sometime in the early 1940s and went out of business in 1949. During that time, they produced several baits for their lineup which were made of wood. The diving lips on each bait had a channel running down the centerline, which makes this companies baits easy to identify. These original baits are highly sought after collectors items. In the late 1960's, the company's assets including equipment, remaining lures, etc., were bought by a company in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Excluded from the deal, however, were the patent and manufacturing rights. None-the-less, the company began making lures again and in fact, added 4 new baits made of plastic. The production of these lures was shut down by the patent holders on threats of lawsuits.
