MONTBLANC Patron Of Art GAIUS MAECENAS

Limited Edition 888 - Fountain Pen

Created in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Patron of Art series, this pen honors the first recorded patron in the history of art and culture, Gaius Maecenas. Maecenas, whose name is synonymous with patronage, represents cultural responsibility and selfless commitment to the propagation of art.

This stately pen, modeled on classical lines, is inspired by the columns of Roman temples. The barrel is crafted of finest precious marble in homage to the material that has come to symbolise the Roman Empire. The first verse of Horace’s ode to Maecenas is rendered in 750 solid gold on a skeletonised cap, which features a ring engraved with "Gaius Cilnius Maecenas".

Endpiece in 18 karat solid gold features Maecenas's portrait on a replica ancient Roman coin positioned on the bottom of the cone.

The Medium 18K gold nib is adorned with fine engravings of a laurel wreath and the Roman numerals "MMXI"emphasising that this unique edition is dedicated to the spiritual father of patronage.

The concerned LE 888 Gaius Maecenas comes in mint / Full Set condition. Never used, never inked, it comes with a white display lacquered presentation box, outer box, booklet/Certificate in a hardcover portfolio.

Limited Edition 598/888.

The pen offered for sale is sold out long time ago from Montblanc and really scarce on the secondary market.
