- Vintage heavy copper cigarette box with small feet in each corner
- Feels a heavy good quality well made item-it weighs 356 g and is really weighty for its size
- Dimensions: about 5 inches (W) x 3.5 inches (D) x 1.5 inches (H)
- Clear signs it was originally silver plated as there are remnants of the original silver but this has largely been polished away to reveal what is actually a very nice copper base underneath
- With a nicely made domed lid and good hinges
- Lined with wood of some kind
- There are a series of circular cartouches and a diamond shape lozenge impressed on the base which appear to contain what looks like Japanese alphabet markings
- On the lid there is what I originally thought was a 'bruise' but on closer examination I think it is the remains of what was originally some kind of little starburst decoration as it appears to be a deliberately made symmetrical design
- I think my father (a big smoker!) may have brought this back from his travels in the Far East with the navy in the 1950's
- Having moved to a modern house house we are having a massive de-clutter so have decided to sell lots of old stuff
- I have good feedback
I WILL POST UP PHOTOS TAKEN IN DAYLIGHT TOMORROW
