To my bidders: For years I have done business on eBay using the name: gpstorageco*. The items I will be selling from this point on are being sold from my estate and from the estates of friends and relatives. Due to eBay rules there will be No International Shipping for this item. This WWII German K-98 Bayonet belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. He set aside vintage military items over the years. This blade was found in his bayonet collection .
This WWII German mid WWII bayonet is clean overall (see photos). The bayonet's fullered blade retains approximately 75% of the bluing with thinning & keeper marks mostly towards the tip (see photos). The blade remains unsharpened and doesn't have much of a sharp edge now (see photos). The blade ricasso is marked to one side with the serial number (7792 b) and the other side with the date/maker - 43crs (see photos). The German wartime coded manufacturer crs is Paul Weyersberg & Co - Solingen. The crossguard, pommel and backstrap have minimal finish remaining but what is there is lightly browning (see photos). Oil darkened wood grips are clean/tight, secured with screws and have the usual small losses and handling dings (see photos). The pommel side has the appropriate waffenamts and spring loaded release button functions properly (see photos).
The bayonet scabbard is solid overall with a couple very small dings to the lower obverse (see photos). It has a lightly browned finish overall, has some minor evidence of corrosion to the reverse behind the frog, is marked with the date/maker (43crs) and serial number (7792 b - see photos).
The clean leather frog is solid/intact overall and is complete with the small retaining strap (see photos). Although complete the small retaining strap is slightly fragile to one side. The frog is rbn numbered and dated 1943 to the reverse (see photos).
This WWII German K-98 bayonet is very attractive, complete overall and would be excellent for display. It is guaranteed to be an original period piece as described. Great piece for the collector or re-enactor wanting a matching WWII German K98 bayonet.
