The state of Arizona is under a stay-at-home order which is making our shipping difficult. We are extending our shipping limit to 20 days. We hope to ship in less time, and we hope soon to be back to our old policy of ten days. We ask for and hope for your patience.

William F. Drueke began making quality chess sets and other games before World War I.  The felts and pieces are good; four of the men have been refelted; see pictures 8 and 9; the Black king has some striations of mysterious origin; one White rook has tooth marks of a non-mysterious origin, probably canine. The White king has some small white swirls common in "butterscotch swirl" Drueke sets; a few of the White men have dark blemishes, probably the result of the pouring process; but if I've learned anything in forty years of the chess business, one man's bug is another man's feature.

This is a "mixed" set, not a heavyweight set. The men are heavyweight; all the pawns are standard weight. Total weight of the set is about 32.8 ounces.  The kings stand 3 5/8 inches tall with a base diameter of 1 1/2 inches. We lack the original box for this set, so we have added an "El Leon" cigar box for storage. Worth every penny.
