Conrad / Gama Mini Diecast Model
No. 1012 / 1148 - Audi Coupe GT 5S
1:43 Scale - Approx. 10cm Length

Gama were a long established producer making models in what was then West Germany. Gama is said to be a contraction of the name of its founder George Adam Mangold and had a very long history of producing tinplate toys starting in the 19th Century. The "Gama Mini" range of 1/43 scale model cars were introduced from 1970 onward, aimed at the growing collectors market. The series ceased to be produced in 1994.

Gama were in competition with other German manufacturers, such as Conrad and Schuco, but, later on, Gama bought out Schuco, and, according to diecast expert Edward Force, there was considerable brand "inter-breeding". Company model offerings were not brand unique and it was not unusual to find models made by Schuco, Conrad and even Norev in Gama boxes!

This model depicts an Audi Coupe GT 5S, and the base is marked "Conrad". Conrad began making diecast models in 1956, and is nowadays better known for making models of commercial trucks and construction site models. Finished in a metallic mint green colour, the model features opening doors, bonnet and boot.

Good pre-owned condition, in original box. Box has some minor wear, a split in the cellophane viewing pane and a crease across the back, but, overall, box is good, with no serious rips or splits. Model itself is very good. See photos - all photos show actual item.
