Early antique Swiss cylinder music box dating from the mid 1800s and playing 6 tunes with 6 hidden bell accompaniment. Though working the mechanism requires attention and is offered for restoration.

The mechanism plays well and the bells sound good whilst there is a brass lever to the front left side to diesngage them if desired. The mainspring is only winding part way before slipping. There is no damage to the teeth on the comb whilst the pinning to the cylinder is very good too.

The case is in pretty good order to the exterior with walnut veneer, stringing and inlay to the top of the lid AND front of the cabinet. The sides are faux rosewood finish whilst the underside carries the original retailer's label - A Dimoline, Bristol. The original tunecard is to be found on the lids underside with the ebonised interior of the cabinet as pictured.



Dimensions:
Weighs 12kg before wrapping - that's heavy. Stands 9.25" (23cm) in height, 9.5" (24cm) deep and 20.5" (52cm) wide. The comb is 10.5" long and all teeth/tips are present. The cylinder a similar length with good pinning.
