To my bidders: For years I have done business on eBay using the name: gpstorageco*. The items I will be selling from this point on are being sold from my estate and from the estates of friends and relatives. This Prussian Model 1816 Infantry Hanger belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. He set aside vintage military items over the years. This blade was part of his sword collection and was bought from a WWII US Veteran years ago.
This particular Prussian M1816 Infantry Hanger measures 29.25 inches overall with a 23.5 inch blade. The single edged blade is fairly dark overall but is clear enough to make out the crown & cypher etched to each side just below the heart shaped guard (see photos). I don't see any maker marks to the blade and I am not familiar with edged weapons of this period. The blade appears sharpened long ago but it doesn't have a sharp edge now and the tip is blunted (see photos). The brass hilt has nicely toned with age and the guard has two areas of what appear to be unit markings (see photos). The grip is without issues and the pommel intact (see photos).
No scabbard was found with this saber and none is included.
This Prussian Model 1816 Infantry Hanger shows average use/wear makes an excellent presentation. It is guaranteed to be an original period piece as described. Great opportunity to complete a display or add to an advanced sword collection. Really a clean piece overall that came to US just after WWII.
