They bid on two extensive travel diaries with lots of pasted postcards.



 

Led 1926-1931 from Hertha Luther (*28. January 1900) from Berlin, who mostly travels/excursions with her brother Arthur Luther (*19. December 1902), sometimes with the whole family. Her father was the merchant and accountant Erwin Luther (1874-1952), a direct descendant of Martin Luther's brother Jakob Luther (1490-1571).



 

In the first book of tabs, shorter trips to the surroundings of Berlin are described (sometimes also within Berlin); the second diary describes longer journeys (including the Rhine, the Harz and the Baltic Sea).


 

With ins. Illustrated with 249 pasted postcards; There are also some photos, newspaper clippings and spa maps. -- Enclosed are two postcards from Arthur Luther to his family.in Berlin, Burgsdorffstr. 9.


 

Danger: Unfortunately, in many places (esp. on 32 of the 277 pages) postcards were brutally removed, which often damaged the paper (I bought the diaries in this condition). In the second diary, the front cover with the first 15 sheets is separated from the rest of the book block; Some sheets are also missing from this diary.


 

The first diary (20.8 x 16 x 2 cm), dated July 1926 to 7. October 1931, includes 107 numbered pages (no missing pages), of which 68 pages have handwritten descriptions, and describes shorter trips and excursions, all in Berlin and the surrounding area, for example


-5. September 1926; Erkner - Straußberg (with Woltersdorf lock)


-11th/12th September 1926: Machnower Schleuse (with AK "Lehmanns Waldschenke" at the Dreilinden railway station) & Potsdam


-June 1927, exhibition "Weekend" at Kaiserdamm Berlin (with program list and seven interesting postcards with motifs from the exhibition).


 

Illustrated with 69 postcards, 6 photos and 21 newspaper clippings (eight of which are loosely inserted at the end). In addition, four small fold-out brochures from the series “With Groterjahn through the Mark” (II. from Lehnnitz to Oranienburg; IX. from Strausberg to Erkner; XIV. From Groß-Besten via Dubrow to Friedersdorf; XV. From Wannsee to Babelsberg).


 

One postcard was removed from 19 pages, and both were removed from an additional four pages.



 

The second travel diary (21 x 16.5 x 5 cm) is dated 8. July 1928 to 12. October 1930.


Contents: Rhine trip (8. July - 4th August 1928), Harz trip (7th-15th. July 1929), Pretzsch (15. July - 7th August 1929), Ahlbeck (3. July - 1st August 1930) and Guben (6-13. October 1930).


The pages are numbered up to p. 173; 10 more pages follow. So originally there were 183 pages; but since the pages pp. 9f., 145f., 149f. and 153f. are missing and pages 88-91 and 144 are blank, there are still 170 pages left, 64 pages of which contain handwritten descriptions.


 

Illustrated with 182 postcards (including two loosely inserted, described by Arthur Luther in 1929), three spa cards (issued to Hertha Luther), two original photos, 97 small purchase pictures, 8 newspaper clippings and two theater program notes from the Bad Schmiedeberg Kurtheater.


 

A postcard was removed from nine pages.


 

Condition: cover rubbed; in the second diary, the front cover with the first 15 sheets is separated from the rest of the book block; Some sheets are also missing from this diary. Sophie Klara Hertha Luther (* 28. January 1900) was Erwin Paul's sister Arthur Luther (* 19. March 1902 in Berlin) and daughter of the businessman and accountant Robert Edmund Erwin Luther (* 16. December 1874 in Berlin, died. 4. March 1952 in Berlin-Neukölln) and Klara Emma, ​​née. Hilbig (* 24. May 1875 in Berlin, died. 20. June 1936 in Berlin).

The father got married for the second time on January 2nd. September 1939 in Berlin-Wedding Helene Johanne Luther, born. Ristau.

One of her ancestors (through paternal lineage) was Jakob Luther (1490-1571), a brother of the reformer Martin Luther.
