Augustus head to the right; / Temple of Aphrodite at Paphos, Cypress

The reverse of this very rare coin depicts the meteorite stone which it was worshiped in the Temple of Aphrodite located in the village of Kouklia, Paphos, Cypress.

This meteorite stone was believed to have certain fertility properties and often sexual ceremonies and orgies were even held in the Temple of Aphrodite, or Roman Goddess Vesta governed by planet Venus.

In the centre of the semicircular yard of the temple, the meteorite stone was placed and to this day, this conical meteorite stone still exists in the museum of Kouklia, Paphos.
