In the USSR billiard balls were made of neoleucorite (Phenol formaldehyde resin (PFR) is a synthetic resin, a product of polycondensation of phenol with formaldehyde. The reaction is carried out in the presence of acidic (hydrochloric, sulfuric, oxalic and other acids) or alkaline catalysts (ammonia, sodium hydroxide, barium hydroxide, triethylamine). )
