Letterpress playbill dating from June 1871 advertising a selection of plays over three nights at the Princess's Theatre, London and featuring the famous acting and dancing family the Vokes, who appeared for ten years annually in the Drury Lane pantomime. Here, they are billed as presenting a new Ballroom dance entitled the Voyes Set. Also advertised on this bill is a 'new and original Irish romantic and sensational drama entitled Eileen Oge or, Dark's The Hour Before the Dawn'  by Edmund Falconer. Falconer [1814-1879]  was a successful actor and playwright in the London theatrical scene, and this would appear to be the premiere of 'Eileen Oge'. 
To complete the three-night programme are two plays starring the great Shakespearian actor, Samuel Phelps [1804-1878]. Here, he is playing one of his most famous roles Sir Pertinax Macsycophant in the Irish writer's satire, 'Man of the World'
The playbill when unfolded measures approx 510mm x 440 mm. Condition is good with touches of foxing on the central fold. The LH margin is slightly shaved just impinging on the text.
