The perennial cornflower or knapweed is a robust and showy plant that will tolerate dry conditions and relatively poor soils making it indispensable in certain situations.
These plants are a mixture of blue and purple shades. Their greyish green hairy leaves and deep blue to purple flowers with hints of ruby in the centre make a wonderful display in late spring and summer.
They can tolerate dry or nutritionally poor soil quite well, but they need well drained soil to thrive.
Ideal for a wild garden scheme, and attractive to bees and butterflies.
