BIOGRAPHY / FLYING FÖRTRESS German artist and illustrator Flying Förtress grew from graffiti to graphic design and went back to the roots with his famous Teddy Troops, which became his signature feature. His works can be found on his collaboration with URBAN NATION on Project M/11 in 2017. Flying Förtress started his artistic career with classic graffiti in 1989 in Munich. In 1995 he started concentrating on graphic design, citing that he felt “a bit stuck in a one-way alley like the whole scene at that point of time“. He returned to the streets around 2000 with more than a spray can, using stickers, posters and other media. Influenced by his graphic studies Flying Förtress created the Teddy Trooper icon. Teddy Troopers occupy public and private spaces since then on stickers, posters, murals and even as three dimensional vinyl toys. Flying Förtress, who is based in Hamburg since 2007 ha also painted and exhibited in places like Paris, Barcelona, London, Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Melbourne, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii.
