Vintage 1940s FRAMED GLADYS EMERSON COOK SIAMESE CAT PRINT-13.5"  X  17.5"

A 1940s framed print of a gorgeous pair of Siamese cats by artist Gladys Emerson Cook.  The print seems to be in its original wooden frame.  There are some age related issues to the print (wavy edges) and the frame (distressed areas) but overall it is in very good condition.  The backing paper has been replaced.  Please see pictures.

Gladys Emerson Cook (November 7, 1894-February 1977), was an American artist born in Haverhill, Massachusetts.  Although she painted still lifes and seascapes, she is best know for her pictures of domestic pets and wild animals.  Many of her animal works were used for book illustrations.  She also was known for advertisements, including Carter's Ink and Puss n' Boots products.

Ms. Cook studied at the New York Art Student's League with Anthony Thieme and Yarnall Abbott.  She had numerous art exhibits in New York City during the 1940s and 1950s.  Cook also wrote and illustrated books about animals including how to draw them.
