A beautiful turn of the last century, Chinese papier mache box with an intricate design to the lid, depicting one person performing a martial arts move, one holding an umbrella and two playing a guess which hand type game, the box has a fantastic patina, and apart from the general wear has only one small nip to the underside of the lid.
The base to the inside has in the recent past been covered in velour, not to my taste, but would protect delicate jewellery etc, size of the box is 180 mm, 7" x 150 mm, 6" x 50 mm, 2".
